I know this is bad, but as a Canadian I find I smile at things like this. I remember family members losing jobs because of lumber tariffs that were deemed illegal according to trade deals, but still happened. The idea that the US is sort of screwed brings me joy.

I like how it said "allies" in the article. Those are shrinking fast, and the problem with playing knuckles with your friends; eventually they stop reaching out. Add a tariff and then take it away enough and people stop caring that about it. The states have become an unreliable shopper, and even if others pay less, they still pay.
